Treating Pearlized and Metallic Balloons with HI-FLOAT

(click to download a video demonstrating treating pearlized and metallic balloons)

Pearlized and metallic balloons float about a third less time than regular colored balloons.

To get the maximum floating life possible use one of the following methods:

METHOD 1: Pre-treat Pearlized or Metallic Balloons to Maximize Float Life
Balloons may be pre-treated with HI-FLOAT several days before they will be inflated. In addition to maximizing the floating time of pearlized and metallic balloons, this method saves time on the day of a large job since you will not spend time treating balloons on that day.

Pre-treating Balloons with ULTRA HI-FLOAT
  • Treat balloons with the correct amount of ULTRA HI-FLOAT.
  • Gently rub the balloon to spread the ULTRA HI-FLOAT.
  • Gather treated balloons in groups of 10 and band the necks of the balloons together with ribbon or a rubber band. This will keep the HI-FLOAT from drying out.
  • Leave the balloons at room temperature on a counter top in banded groups of 10 for up to one week.
  • Before inflating the balloons, gently rub the balloons to re-spread the ULTRA HI-FLOAT inside the balloon.
  • Inflate the balloons with Helium and hand tie.

Pre-treating Balloons with SUPER HI-FLOAT
  • Treat balloons with the correct amount of SUPER HI-FLOAT.
  • Gently rub the balloon to spread the SUPER HI-FLOAT.
  • Gather treated balloons in groups of 10 and band the necks of the balloons together with ribbon or a rubber band. This will keep the HI-FLOAT from drying out.
  • If you will be inflating the balloons the next day, leave them on a counter at room temperature in banded groups of 10. If you will not be inflating the balloons the next day, place them in an airtight plastic container in the refrigerator. Pre-treated balloons may be kept in the refrigerator for several days.
  • Before inflating the pre-treated balloons, allow them to warm to room temperature.
  • Gently rub the balloons to re-spread the SUPER HI-FLOAT inside the balloon.
  • Inflate the balloons with Helium and hand tie.

METHOD 2: Pre-Stretch Pearlized or Metallic Balloons to Maximize Float Life

Prestretching pearlized and metallic balloons will give about the same increase in floating time as the pre-treating procedure described above. To pre-stretch balloons:

  • Inflate the balloon with air to stretch it.

  • Deflate the balloon.

  • Treat the balloon with ULTRA HI-FLOAT in the normal manner.

  • Inflate with helium and hand tie.
